The
drinking age in the Turks and Caicos Islands
is 18. A driver's license or passport
can be used as proof of age. Most
bars also serve food from opening until
about 9pm, during which time, young children
are allowed. Bars in different areas
of Providenciales close at different
times. Some close as early as 10pm,
while most close between midnight and 1am. From
Thursday to Saturday many close between 2am
and 4am, often featuring entertainment such
as karaoke, DJs or live bands. Your
property manager can direct you to the type
of bar most to your liking. Many of
the resorts and better restaurants also have
chic wine and martini bars. They
typically operate from 6pm to 11pm.
It is strongly suggested that if you
plan to drink at a bar, that you have
transportation pre-arranged by the property
manager. Navigating the many round-abouts
at night with a few drinks can be quite
dangerous.
Currently,
there are two gaming establishments on
island. One is a fully automated
casino that also offers live poker tables,
located in Turtle Cove, while the other
is a scaled down Vegas style casino, located
in the Grace Bay area. Virtually all
bars also have 2 to 4 gaming machines that
offer a variety of games, such as keno,
black jack, poker and slots.
