The
Turks and Caicos Islands host Government
hospitals located on both Providenciales and
Grand Turk. Providenciales also has
several private clinics that are well
staffed to quickly address any minor
ailments you may encounter. Health services
available include: dental, chiropractic,
physiotherapy, optometry, x-ray, ultrasound,
CAT Scan, decompression chamber and air
ambulance service.
Several
full service pharmacies are well stocked.
It is recommended that you bring
prescriptions in your carry-on bag to avoid
loss. Having the original containers
with the prescription label will allow you
to refill the prescription here with minimal
difficulty.
The
most common problems encountered by visitors
here on island are sunburn, dehydration and
insect bites. Thus it is strongly
recommended to use sunscreen at all times
when outdoors, make sure that your fluid
intake is regular and that at night, you
spray insect repellent to prevent insect
bites plus close screen doors and windows.
The Villa is situated on a windy bluff and
seldom has many insects.
In
case of emergency, the clinics on island are
capable of stabilizing most patients and, if
necessary, transferring the patient by
air-ambulance to Florida.
Guests
are advised to check that their Insurance
covers repatriation costs before they
arrive.
The
Villa has small first-aid kits and a
defibrillator available. The Villa
Orientation Manual has a list of local
doctors, dentists and clinics, all of which
are located on the main highway, less than a
mile from the Villa. Some of our
doctors actually make house calls!
